Abstract

This document describes Good waste management is one of the important factors in maintaining environmental cleanliness 
and health. However, conventional trash bins often do not provide information about their capacity, so that trash can overflow without being noticed. This study designs and implements a smart trash bin system based on Arduino Uno by utilizing ultrasonic sensors and 
servo motors. Ultrasonic sensors are used to detect the height of trash in the container in real time, while servo motors regulate the 
automatic opening and closing mechanism on the trash bin cover based on the distance of the detected object (hand or trash). The test results show that the system works stably in detecting trash and moving the cover automatically. With low cost and simple implementation, this design has the potential to be applied in household environments and public facilities as an initial step towards smarter waste management..
